素敵な雑貨のお店　外園（ほかぞの）, a place for beauty.

ニコルです！帰国のために続けてる、クリスマスショッピング！今回は、家族のために。

When you drive past Kanoya’s City Hall, you might notice a mysterious display of glassware through the window of a narrow building.
鹿屋市役所の近くを通ると、小さな建物の窓から不思議なガラスケースに気づくかもしれません。

This is an exhibition space for Hokazono, a shop for daily necessities. And just around the corner, you will find a stylish salon called Valetta, where the products on display can be purchased.
外園という店は、このスペースに雑貨を展示しています。そしてちょっと歩いて、角を曲がると、valettaというおしゃれなサロンを見つけます。このサロンの前で外園の商品を販売しています。

The building exterior and interior are industrial and chic, and the design of the space makes for a relaxed atmosphere.
外観も店内もインダストリアルかつシックで、空間のデザインはとてもリラックスした雰囲気になります。

The products are lined up and organized neatly on a marble table and along shelves, like a museum.
製品は、大理石のテーブルと棚の上に、美術館展示のように並んでいます。

According to the owner, it is a selection of objects with which you can spend every day beautifully.
オーナーによると、毎日が美しく過ごせるような物をセレクトしたそうです。

Such a sentiment is truly felt in the careful curation of items, which ranges from kitchen tools and utensils to glasses and dishes, and even Hokazono’s own special blend of matcha tea.
そんな思いは、家庭用品や台所用具、ガラス製品や皿、さらには外園のオリジナルブレンドの抹茶など厳選されたアイテムから感じることができます。

Each object seems to combine practical use with simple, elegant design.
製品は実用的なものと、シンプルでエレガントなデザインを組み合わせているそうです。

I was particularly drawn to a box of chopstick rests. They are hand-painted with beautiful blue-and-white traditional stamp patterns. One can choose 5 from a series of 10 different motifs in order to create a customized set.
私は特に箸置きの箱に惹かれました。美しい青と白の伝統的な印判パターンが手描きされています。10の異なるモチーフから5つを選択してカスタムセットを作ることができます。

And a set of rare dark wooden chopsticks to accompany.
そして、珍しい木製の濃い色の箸も一緒に。

A personalized gift for my mother, completely unique to this place and time.
これは私の母親のために選んだプレゼントです。

I also decided to add the Mulberry Matcha Tea for both my mother and father. It is made organically, using pure mulberry leaves, and packed with fiber and vitamins such as zinc and iron. I myself drink this tea regularly, I’ve noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair, skin, and nails.
母と父それぞれのプレゼントに桑抹茶を加えることにしました。有機栽培の純粋な桑の葉を使って作られ、繊維や亜鉛や鉄などのビタミンが詰まっています。自分自身でこのお茶を定期的に飲んで、髪と皮膚と爪の状態の改善に気づきました。

As I proceeded to check out, I was presented with an array of beautiful mizuhiki knots to choose from. (Mizuhiki is a kind of decorative cord often attached to gifts and envelopes.)
